Making up for lost time

National Geographic says Leap Year is a little trick the world uses to make up for lost time. The fact is the earth turns roughly 365 and a quarter times on its axis by the time it has completed is full spin in orbit around the sun. That means periodically the calendar has to catch up, thus the convention of leap years.

I am gonna use this extra day to work on my UFO's. That list to the right has not gotten any smaller.

Getting ready for Green? ME too!

Hurry Up and Wait

Right now it's cold, it's wet and I am happy building houses.
My supply of scraps in this tub was getting a bit boring.

I perked it up a bit and changed my rules. I am using the teeny tiny scraps from my latest projects and using them for my most house current blocks. Here's two. Right now I am working on a UFO of Aunt Grace fabrics for a friend. A Double-Hour glass quilt. My next batch of houses will all be 1930's prints.

I also ran out of the typical foundation paper piecing paper. So I went to one of those dollar $$ type stores and bought this scribble pad for a BUCK! Works like a charm too!

Thanks to all of you who visited during the Show Some Love Blog Hop and left comments. Ya'll are so nice. It's never too late to re-visit those blogs and get some Accuquilt inspiration.

Aren't those red and white quilts something else? I hope that you'll try and attempt one too.

Mr. Random Generator is going to pick my winner tomorrow morning at the first site of snow!!

Yep! I am anxiously awaiting our little snowstorm that is supposed to start this evening. I hope when I wake up in the morning there is a lot of fluffy white stuff covering the ground.

I found this clip from our local news and am so jazzed. I love a classic North Carolina snowstorm.

"The snow-less winter central North Carolina has experienced will come to an end later today and tonight as a strong winter storm will impact the state. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Triangle northward, from 3 p.m. today through 9 a.m. Monday"

Blog Hop Day 6: GO! Ahead and Show Some Love

Welcome to my turn for Day 6
Go! Ahead and Show Some Love Blog Hop

Today I am hosting along with Paulette of Sweet P Quilting and Creations
and Tracey of The Peony Teacup

I hope you enjoy your visit.
Here is what I'd like to share with you.

I used the 2 1/2" finished HST's that are on the Value Die which come with the Accuquilt Go! I think it is the most versatile die and I love it!

I made a traditional Lady of the Lake
2-Color Red & White scrappy BIG quilt

First I started with a stack of reds and a bolt of Kona white
You will see my finished and quilted quilt at the end of this posting. Be patient. LOL

I cut strips of red and white fabric right sides together and laid them on my Accuquilt Cutter die.

Usually I do about 4 layers per cutting session. Some people do more but I like to take it easy on the blades.

Then I chain-pieced until I couldn't see or sit straight anymore

My pattern called for 720 HST's. I wanted my quilt big. You can adjust your quilt size to suit your fancy. I just like 'em big. SO nice to snuggle up into.

I forgot to take some photos along the way, but you will just love the outcome anyway. I hope.

Block one done, just 35 more to go!

You can arrange these blocks to give you many different setting options too!

Ta Da!

Here is my giveaway for my hosting day and a special Buy-One, Get One Free Pattern offer on any of the Red & White Quilt patterns in my store until the end of the month.

A Machine Embroidered Needlecase with a set of John James needles is my Giveaway. Just leave a little bit of Love! Go! for It.
